Today, my post is not about a painter, con­tem­po­rary or oth­er­wise.  It is rather a trib­ute to one of my favorite per­form­ing artists, Madame Cesaria Evora, one of the best singers in the world. Cesaria Evora passed away Sat­ur­day, Decem­ber 17, 2011 in Min­delo, on her native island of Sao Vicente in Cape Verde, West Africa. She was laid to rest Decem­ber 21, 2011.

Cesaria Evora won Grammy and numer­ous other awards and recog­ni­tion around the world for her songs. She was often referred to as the “Bare­foot Diva” because she often per­formed with­out shoes in sol­i­dar­ity with the poor women and chil­dren in her coun­try who can­not afford shoes.

Death, you are sim­ply heart­less, cruel and self­ish.
Show your face! Cow­ard, you can’t.
What did you intend to accom­plish?
Rien! Noth­ing! You’ve accom­plished absolutely noth­ing.
Madame Cesaria Evora lives!
She lives on in her music.
She lives in my heart.
She lives in the hearts and mem­o­ries of her fans around the world.
Madame Cesaria Evora, may the light of Our Lord and Sav­ior Jesus Christ
illu­mi­nate your paths and lead you home.
Rest in Peace.
